Inspired by the landscape I live and work in, I use painting, drawing, collage and mixed media to create abstract representations of the complex and fragile forms, textures and colours of my world.
The Over the Hill collages depict the colours of the Waterloo landscape in winter with the messy greens of fading pastures, the textured mauve hills and the wispy blue skies. Pastel drawings are torn in to shapes that reflect the forms of paddocks, hills and sky and are placed to emphasise the energy between these three elements of the landscape.

A Good Summer is a series about the messy, layered, overgrown greenness that develops in our paddocks at the end of the summer wet season. All grass and tree species are in full growth mode in a generally closed landscape where glimpses of sky and misty mauve mountains can be seen through gaps in trees or outlining open pastures. The landscape is dominated by organic, lush, green pastures and corridors of dark, dirty green foliage along creeks and hard ridges. The overwhelming greenness is interrupted by flashes of bright red and aqua as Red-backed wrens and kingfishers dart through the shrubs and grasses. The large rounded shapes are reminiscent of the forms of rocks and foliage. The close spaces between the forms represents the energetic place where paddocks meet on creeks and life-giving water flows to sustain a variety of native wildlife.

Big Storms is a series of works on paper that aim to capture the energy, of a storm as it develops on the horizon, between earth and sky. Life giving summer storms brood and build before exploding with dramatic energy across the landscape. The images themselves capture the energy of an exploding storm but the large unframed works are designed to hang softly and move gently to reflect the gentler movement and energy before and after a storm.

The Bucca Mt. series is about my love of the colours of summer, at Waterloo, and my fascination with maps and torn paper. Art works and images are torn in random organic shapes and placed in simple arrangements that draw out and enhance the inherent energy of each torn shape. Some of the images are simple acrylic impressions of the mountains where sky and paddock meet, and the maps are copies of old cadastral maps of the Waterloo area.

Summer Storms is a series of works on paper that aim to capture the energy of a storm, as it develops, between earth and sky. Strong, gestural graphite marks represent the life-giving forces that brood and build before gathering momentum and exploding dramatically across the landscape, infusing the sky and land with energy that will stimulate growth and nourish the flora and fauna that are dependent on this land.

The Littabella series is about my love of the colours of summer, at Waterloo, and my fascination with maps and torn paper. Art works and images are torn in random organic shapes and placed in simple arrangements that draw out and enhance the inherent energy of each torn shape. Forms float delicately and balance precariously in a way that reflects the vulnerable nature of the landscape as it is exposed to and responds to drought, flood and storm.

The Gooburrum Series explores the richness of the layers of the encaustic medium to represent the rich layers of the landscape. Local maps are used for their inherently intriguing lines and cartographic symbols, including the striking water shed symbol that describes the pattern of water flow on the landscape. The greens, blues and browns reflect the colours of a changing seasonal landscape. Rhodes grass is a significant pasture species on our property so there are recurring images of Rhodes grass seeds heads and Rhodes grass seeds as they are dispersed by the wind. Some images are based on torn shapes and placed to emphasise the energy between the forms and reflect the energy of the landscape.
